STELLER BEGINNINGS

Steller Handcrafted Goods began in 2009 with a pair of mittens. Soon founder Julie Steller’s kitchen was overwhelmed — wool in the butter dish? Uffdah! Today we’ve grown to more than a dozen artisans, and you can find our products in gift shops and boutiques across the country.

It starts with picking the right sweater.

Making Old Things New

We love the textures and colors of wool, the idea of taking something old and making it new. Upcycling is a central part of our business. We forage for unique sweaters at thrift stores, garage sales, antique shops, estate sales and more. After finding forgotten treasure, we reimagine what it can be.

Real Minnesotans, You Betcha

We create our products here in Minnesota using local labor and materials. We’re a homegrown business of artisans — handmade things make us happy. Seeing the skill and creativity shine through in every stitch? That’s something to be proud of.

Warm Your Soul

Every product has its purpose, but we relish the little embellishments — vintage buttons, hand stitching, and the mismatched nature of one-of-a-kind creations. We want mittens that will warm your hands and your heart.

Women Ventures 2020 Resiliency Award Winner!

We were so thrilled to be recognized by our friends at Women Venture with a Resiliency Award. It was not easy, but we are proud to have weathered 2020 and come out keeping our wonderful team of sewers working to create useful and beautiful products. We have learned a lot about resiliency from the materials that we use!
